STEP 1. First you have to choose the file that you want to adjust from the Finder.

STEP 2. In order to “Get Info” on the file simply click on Command+i.

STEP 3. Within the info screen of the file simply click on “Open with” section.

STEP 4. Now you have to choose the application you want to open with this specific file from the pull down menu.

STEP 5. Now you have to close the Get Info window.

That’s it. You should remember it will change the default behavior of that specific file only. If you want to change that file types association across Mac OS X then simply click on “Change All” button. In this way you can change the default application of an individual file.
