Spirit Jailbreak is Out Now!
Finally the iPhone and iPod jailbreaking tool from the iPhone Dev Team, known as Spirit Jailbreak is out. If you are not aware of this, Spirit is an untethered jailbreak for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch on the latest firmwares. But do note that it’s not a carrier unlock. In case you are using a tethered jailbreak, you need to restore it before trying Spirit.
Important: Do not upgrade if you have used a unlock tool on your iPhone 3G or 3GS device. Only Apple iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch on firmware 3.1.2, 3.1.3, or 3.2 can be jailbroken using Spirit Jailbreak. Double check if your device syncs with iTunes before you try this.
Do note that this tool is still in beta stage for iPad. Since some packages in Cydia are not designed and compatible with iPad, you might end up screwing up your system.
Before you proceed, it’s strongly recommended to back up your ECID SHSH blobs, (only for newer iDevices iPhone 3Gs and iPad) cause once Apple releases either a firmware patch or when OS 4.0 is released, you wont be able to downgrade back to either 3.1.3 or 3.2.
Update: Spirit Jailbreak runs fine with win98 compatibility mode.
