Google is expecting a lot from its Android platform. Recently the news has come to known that Google is planning to make $10 Billion in a year from its Android OS. As we all know that Android is a free OS and open source and Google doesn’t make a cent on the operating system. So where will Google get that amount from the Android OS if it is free? Well, when a company releases its software for free, how does it plan to make money? But Google has answer for it, that is its mobile advertising platform, Google has planed to make money from pre-installed apps with ads.
Google is activating 160,000 Android devices per day (an enormous number). Imagine Google has billions of end users for their Android OS. Thus Eric Schmidt concludes that “with that many users, all you would have to do is, make $10 per user per year”. So with that kind of user base, Google will achieve their goal with $10 billion per year. [via]
