How to Activate and Enable Internet Tethering on iPhone and Connect to PC as Wireless Modem

Apple released a latest updated OS for all iPhone and iPod Touch series and it’s Apple 3.0 Firmware. This latest firmware version comes with a lots of new features. Onc of the most promising feature on 3.0 firmware is Internet Tethering. Activate internet tethering on iPhone to use your iPhone as a wireless modem. Yes, using internet tethering you can connect your iPhone to laptop, desktop etc and start using internet. However, this service is disabled by default and you can enable it without any hack or jailbreaking.

Activate and Enable Free Internet Tethering on iPhone 3.0

1. Open and run Safari browser on your iPhone
2. If you want to edit your mobileconfig with custom settings such as custom APN, username and password, navigate to http://help.benm.at/help.php

   

   However in most case you don’t need to make any changes there. iPhone 3.0 Firmware comes pre-configured with most mobile operator settings.

   

   Click on Mobileconfigs to select pre-configured settings and visit http://help.benm.at/tethering.php

3. Choose your country from the list



4. Select your mobile service provider from the list



5. Click on Install to save the new settings



6. Select Install Now to change the existing settings and save your preferences



7. Now navigate to your iPhone menu and head to Settings >> General >> Network >> Internet Tethering



8. Switch Internet Tethering ON



9. Select Bluetooth or USB according to your preference of connecting iPhone to laptop or PC



10. Now Internet Tethering is activated on your iPhone and you may connect your iPhone with your laptop or desktop to start using internet service.



11. You are done.

You won’t face any problems in building a connection with your iPhone and PC using USB port. Computers will automatically recognize that your iPhone is powered with internet tethering and will search for any available connection on your iPhone.
