It has been a couple of days since Apple Event revealed it’s much awaited release, Apple iPad. People from all over the world followed live blog updates, twitter updates, checked high resolution images, read reviews and rated it pretty well. I guess most people had a look on the positive aspects along with the newly implemented features only while there are several limitations and drawbacks of this Apple device. There is not one, two or three, I will keep here 7 valid drawbacks and limitations of iPad that makes this product a fail.
iPad Drawbacks and Limitations
7 simple questions to iPad developers
1. No Camera : You are talking about the “next generation personal computer” without a camera?
2. No Multi-Tasking : Your tablet device can’t run two apps at the same time? Can’t I listen to music while browsing the web? Are you crazy?
3. No VoIP service : You are talking about 3G service compatibility, but why didn’t you mention that it can carry only data? No iPhone apps such as Skype can run on this device where you can talk to your friends online.
4. No USB Slots : How do you expect users to transfer data without USB port, external CD drive, etc? And yes, your dock connector is useless (in comparasion to USB ports)
5. No Flash Compatibility : Apple, you really need to grow up! Like iPhone, you also left this device incompatible with Flash which means no flash games can be played or no websites with flash contents can’t be accessed on iPad. Great!!
6. Unprotected Screen : Can you give me a reason, please? May be the Apple guys forgot to provide a screen guard to protect the 9.7″ screen where this drawback might lead to scratches and running applications by hitting the thumb on the icons accidentally.
7. Storage Limitations : Lolz, I am a 320GB hard disk and few times run out of space and now iPad comes with 16Gb, 32Gb or 64Gb storage devices where you get much lower storage space. And the most interesting thing is that there is now way (yes, absolutely no way) to increase the storage space. Great to see the future with this future Apple PC. Won’t you take credit for this, Apple?
iPad in India will be a great fail as India is yet to see 3G service all over (BSNL and MTNL support 3G service but at very limited places) and iPad will be made available internationally after 6 months. Pathetic!

Yeah, I see not point to this thing. Too big to carry around and I'd rather use my laptop or netbook if I'm at home or traveling, at least they have multi-user friendly option and a camera, usb, storage, etc.
Maybe the iPad was made for Andre the Giant…
Looks like you will have to buy the iPhone/iTouch and the iPad to get all of the functions you want. I think Apple thought hard about this one. They don't want to make an internal competitor product or hamper sales of another product line.

A zillion years ago, IBM almost crashed and burned when it limited 3rd party access to its new computers. Apple is a control freak, plain and simple, but like its egocentric CEO, it forces you to not even THINK of making friends on your own. Hm. No fun at a party. Steve should have remembered IBM's near-disaster.
The best part about iPad is it will make those of us with subnotebooks even happier. We have all 7 of the conveniences listed above. We even have LIDS on our computers, so they really ARE okay in a daypack.
And, by the way, what is the benefit of getting sticky fingers on a screen? Even in the days of paper and books, we usually made our notes on paper; not much right in the book itself. I'd far rather a separate "real" keyboard. But then, if I went for an un-Microsoft OS, I'd definitely go to Linux, which is free and better than Apple, so I guess I'm just not one of Steve's fangirls, LOLz.
Great post so far. Let's see how Steve fixes this.
Every iPad Will Fail article (and the subject article is no exception) is practically identical–calling out the same eight (the author forgot one) "drawbacks and limitations" and repeating the same flawed reasoning (didn't your teacher tell you that was naughty?).
"Can't I listen to music while browsing the web?," writes this blogger (Bapun) along with all the rest. Since none you have apparently used a device with iPhone OS, let me clue you in: yes you can; and what's more, you can listen to your tunes while using Facebook, Calendar, Contacts, and other applications that don't require the sound services for their own use (e.g., Rock Band and Skype).
3G with data capability only and thus no Skype, says this "author." Fact Check: the iPhone OS Skype application is not dependent upon 3G; all it needs is a WiFi connection, and it's good to go–I use the Skype app on my iPod Touch frequently.
I'm not saying run out and buy an iPad; rather, I'm saying potential buyers ought to do primary research–go "hands-on" with the iPad an Apple store, and question the store personnel–especially those with "genius" on their name tags. "Information" in these blogs is way too repetitive (my euphemism) to be of great use.
The eighth "failure" often cited is that the iPad is just a big iPod Touch. If it is, I would like one, as it would be friendlier on the eyes during long periods of use–and the Rock Band app would be even more fun.
Peace.
Mike

Are there more limitations?
I've read plenty of stuff about it, sounds like its not going to be a good tool for digital artist that use paint programs and pen & touch…..Apple sucks, they only think about certain aspects, like entertainment and businessmen…..No thanks Apple, I'm satified with my low class celullar phone, DSi XL and my dream of getting a laptop…Because I'm a artist.
Apple can make these things fast enough. They have sold over 800,000 units plus already. Granted it can't do everything, but for $499.00 what do you expect. They will sell millions more and yes they will multi-task and the Rev B series will have a camera and. I bought Apple at $12.80 a share and knew back then the were headed beyond anyone else in the industry. Good for Steve Jobs!
Just got my Ipad last week. Absolutely love it!! It's not as good as my MacBook. But it's still a thousand times better than my older HP laptop. OMG, even with all the limitations people are talking about, its still 100% better than any pc I've ever owned. I think whoever wrote this article needs to be a little more forward thinking about how the future of computing is going to be. It aint gonna be about the stuff your complaining bout. Love ya, peace.
Almost bought an ipad but the fact that I can't edit google docs on it as well as upload my homework to my online classes is my dealbreaker.
