In this age of technology a smartphone is an important in each and every person’s life especially when facing an emergency, or when we are travelling to some unknown place. Therefore it is important to keep a considerable amount of battery life in our smartphone so that it can come in handy in the times of need. Fortunately, there are some simple tips that iPhone and Android smartphone can follow in order to make sure their phone is ready when you need it most.
Turn Off 4G LTE
4G LTE takes a lot of battery charge of our smartphone. Therefore, if you own an iPhone 5 or an Android phone that connects to a 4G LTE network, then by turning it off, we can save a lot of battery power of our smart phone. Although we won’t have access to high speed data however we can save a lot of battery power of the smart phone.
Be it the iPhone 5, then the 4G LTE can be turned off by simply heading into General in Settings then tap Cellular and toggle Enable LTE to Off. Whereas on Android, head into Settings, tap More and under Wireless & Networks, tap Mobile networks, then tap Network Mode and select the option that does not contain LTE.
Turn Off Cellular Data
We can also opt to turn of the cellular data in our smart phone if we are not using data or are using it sparingly. By following this option we can save a lot of battery power of our phone. Turning off the cellular data will limit the WiFi connection and sometimes there may be no access to web but it can significantly enhance the battery life of our phone.
If the smart phone is an iPhone, then turn off the cellular data by heading into General in Settings, then tap Cellular and toggle Cellular Data to Off. Whereas on a Android, head into Settings and tap More. Under Wireless & Networks, tap Mobile networks, and make sure Data enabled is checked off.
Minimizing Screen Brightness
The brightness of the screen is a major reason that drains the battery life of our phone. So by simply minimizing the screen one can save a considerable battery life of our phone. If the smartphone is an iPhone, then the brightness can be decreased by heading into General in Settings, then to Brightness and Wallpaper, and adjust the brightness accordingly. Whereas On a Android, the brightness can be decreased by going to Settings, then to display under the Device category. Then tap into Brightness, and adjust brightness accordingly.
Turning Off Wi-Fi
If the smart phone is an iPhone then the wifi can be turned off by going into General under the settings then tap Wi-Fi, and toggle Wi-Fi to Off. Whereas in Android, head into Settings and at the very top and toggle Wi-Fi to off. It should be kept in mind that even if in a place there is access to wifi still we won’t have any access to any data if the cellular data is off.
Turn Off Push Notifications
By shutting off the push notifications one can save the battery life of our Smartphone. If the smartphone is an iPhone the push notification can be turned off by going into Settings and then Notifications. Then the user will be able to find an application list to choose from. From here, one can also turn on ‘’Do Not Disturb’’ which will halt the whole notifications or can manually turn it off one by one.
Whereas for android smartphone the push notifications can be switched off by going into Settings and under Device, tap on Apps. From here one has to check out each of the Applications and uncheck the box that says Show Notifications.
Restart your Phone
One of the easiest ways of conserving the battery life of our smartphone is to turn it off when not needed and again restarting it in the time of need. By turning your phone off on occasion, the system will get a chance to flush its self and one can get better results from the device’s battery.
Use Airplane Mode
Using Airplane Mode is not just when you’re on an airplane but also a great way of conserving the battery life when you don’t need access to calls or data as well as don’t want to turn your device off.
If the smartphone is an iPhone then this mode can be activated by heading into General in Settings, and toggle Airplane Mode to On. Whereas in a android phone this feature can be turned on by tapping More under Wireless & Networks, and making sure to check the box for Airplane Mode.
Make Sure to turn off the Location Services
If the smartphone is an iPhone then the location services can be turned off by going into Settings and tap Privacy. In the privacy menu tap Location Services and turn off the location service. Whereas in android smartphone this services can be turned off by going into Settings and under Personal menu go to Location services, and uncheck all marks. In any case there is a need of using the maps then this service can be easily turned on by the same procedure.
Turning Off the Bluetooth
Bluetooth also eats into battery life it is turned on. In case the smartphone is an iPhone the Bluetooth can be turned off by going into Settings and then tap Bluetooth, and toggle it to Off. Whereas in Android smart phone this feature can be turned off by going into Settings. In the setting menu find Bluetooth under Wireless & Networks and turn it to off.
