The files and folders that are deleted from your computer can be recovered easily either from the recycle bin or by using software’s like Recover My Files, Recuva, Restoration, Undelete Plus, etc. The deleted files can be restored as upon deletion of the files the files are not actually removed from the hard drives the only thing is the space that was earlier occupied by the files are made available to the user for other purpose. But, restoring of the deleted data is useful if the deleted volume or files, etc are either accidentally removed or the files are important and need to be used again. To remove the files from your system completely, you need to use the Empty Recycle Bin option. The personal or the secured data that you have deleted to maintain privacy and secrecy can be easily restored as well, so simple deletion is not enough. Here is the software that can be used to delete the files securely named as Secure Eraser. In addition to this, the application can securely delete files and folders from your system; you can delete whole partitions, perform secure deletion of already deleted files, clean your system, and delete redundant registry entries. Secure Eraser uses shredding methods such as German Standard, Peter Gutmann Standard, US DoD, etc. to delete files securely from your PC. This software is compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. When you launch the program, on the welcome screen appears different options like File & folder Deletion, Drive/Partition Deletion, Free Space Deletion, System Cleaning, Registry Cleaning and Report Administration. You can select the option as per your need.

On selecting the File & Folder Deletion option from the welcome screen, you will be allowed to remove files and folders securely from your system hard drive. All you need to do is to add the files that are to be deleted and select a security level or wiping method from the dropdown box and start the deletion process. The options above the Start deletion button allows you perform various activities like Exit Program (EX), Shutdown Windows (SD), Reboot (RB), or Standby (SB) once the process is finished. Once the deletions of all the selected files are completed, a report consist of the complete details regarding the process is displayed in HTML format.

The Drive Partition/ Deletion and Free Space Deletion options in the welcome screen of the software allows you to choose a drive volume and select Clean up MFT and Clear Change Journal as options.

In addition to deletion of files and folders securely from the system hard drive, the software also adds a option delete securely with secure eraser to the context menu, by which you can select the files directly from the Windows Explorer by selecting the file to be securely deleted and right-click on it and select the option Delete securely with Secure Eraser from the context menu. This will automatically add the files to the list and delete by following the same procedure mentioned above.

Upon selecting the Registry Cleaning option, the registry entries are cleaned or allows you to wipe residue entries for ActiveX and Com Objects, Application Paths, Autorun Objects, File Extensions, Shared Files, Help Files, etc.
System Cleaning option allows you to wipe the temporary files and folders, Cookies, Forms, Address Lists, etc., from your system related to Windows, Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. The General settings can be adjusted from the settings menu at the top.
