Xiaomi Taiwan to Avail Red Rice or Hongmi Starting 9 Dec

The Chinese Handset maker Xiaomi is rolling out its Red Rice Smartphone in Taiwan. Earlier the Company has launched Xiaomi Hongmi or Red Rice only in Chinese Market, but the smartphone can now be purchased at Taiwan at a budgeted price for NT$3,999 or $135. The Smartphone boasts 4.7-inch display and powered by Mediatek MT6589 Cortex-A7 chipset. Further details on its specifications and availability are illustrated ahead in the article.

Xiaomi has also queued the Red Rice 2 for the December launch. For now if you are in Taiwan then you can have the August released Xiaomi Hongmi or Red Rice smartphone at an affordable price starting Dec 9.

Coming to the specs-sheet, Xiaomi Red Rice runs on Android v4.2 Jelly Bean OS with MIUI v5 and packs a 1.5GHz clocked Mediatek MT6589 Cortex-A7 CPU. It sports 4.7-inch IPS display having pixel density of 312ppi and protected by Gorilla Glass 2. Memory-wise, the smartphone boards 1GB of RAM, and 4GB internal memory that can be expanded via microSD card support. The Graphics chip embedded is PowerVR SGX544.

Hongmi ships with 8MP BSI rear camera for photography and video recording. It also equips 1.3MP front facing camera for video chats and selfies. For connectivity, the smartphone comes Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB v2.0, Dual SIM slot with GSM/3G and TD-SCDMA networks on both the slots. It is powered by 2000 mAh battery.
